Just a reminder that there are a lot of opportunities to show off the
stars to students in our valley's schools. I can especially use some
help at this Monday's Death Valley ROCKS event. We're expecting 70
kids, and that's a lot for one telescope.

Let me know as soon as you can if any of these events appeal to you.

Thanks.

-- David

Monday, March 15, 2010 Death Valley ROCKS
Observing will start 8:00 or 8:30 PDT. This is the Monday after our
Messier Marthon weekend. You'll still have your stuff in the car, so
you might as well come out...
(No volunteers at this writing)

Thursday, March 18, 2010 Marc Kahre ES (K - 5th) (Two, half hour
presentations only) 5:30-7:30
The principal, sighting safety concerns, is restricting this event to
the give time frame. So we will have two, half hour presentations on
the Solar
System, and no observing. I'm looking for one or two
speakers. The presentations do not have to be the same.
(Currently volunteered: Rob Lambert)

Monday, March 22, 2010 Death Valley ROCKS
Giving about 40 students a chance to see the stars in the
dark. Sunset about 7:00 (PDT), First Quarter moon. You're welcome
to spend the night observing.
(No volunteers at this writing)

Saturday, March 27, 2010 Cub Pack 133 campout @ Valley of Fire
These guys contact us every year, inviting us to come out to their
campout. They always seem to select the wrong weekend. But if you
are available and want an overnight camping event, here you
go. They're expecting 45 people (25 scouts, 7 to 10 years old, 20
adults). They will be at Group Campsite #1 (where the scouts were
just this last weekend.) Depending on the number of cars they have,
which I
will try to find out, we may be able to set up in one of the
two parking areas provided for that site.
(No volunteers at this writing)

Monday, April 12, 2010 Richard C. Presentation on the Moon, and Constellations, followed by observing.
(Currently volunteered: Laura Kelm)

Monday, June 21, 2010 Lamb of God ES 9 - 10 am
For approximately 30 students, grades 1 - 6 (combined). Ideally,
they would like someone each day of the week of June 21, for an hour
long class on astronomy. If someone(s) want to volunteer for this
much, that would be terrific. At a minimum, they'll take a single
class on Monday, to kick off the week. If you are interested in this
event, please let me know
ASAP, so I can follow up with the school.
(No volunteers at this writing)

_______________________________________________
Sent via the LVAS mailing list LVAS@lvlug.org
Set options or unsubscribe at http://lvlug.org/mailman/listinfo/lvas
The LVAS discussion list is hosted courtesy of LasVegas.Net
