All,

I was spoiled by seeing a real meteor storm in Palmdale, CA in 1968. Since then, meteor showers have not impressed me all that much. However, this morning while driving to work in Indian Springs, I saw my token Perseid through the windshield. It was pretty cool.

The last time I saw the Perseids was in Tipton, OK in the mid 90's. We sat out in the back yard and probably saw 50 in an hour. Wasn't blown away, but still enjoyed it.

Bunny, I'm surprised you saw that many from town. They must've really been bright!

Fred

Making myself comfortable in the backyard, facing NE under three street lights and the waning moon, (which I was able to obstruct) I observed from 2 am until 4:30 am. I counted ten horizontal, vivid, spewing streaks of light. One out of the ten was a very bright fireball.

I must say, a very rewarding endeavor!
