All,<BR> <BR>Another one of many unfinished projects. Would someone be willing to help? I have attached a sketch of NGC-5350, NGC-5353, and NGC 5354. There are two more galaxies within this small 1/2° FOV. This is the perfect group for a large scope due to the small field size. <BR> <BR><STRONG>Who can see all five galaxies?</STRONG> <BR> <BR><STRONG>1. 5350 mag. 13.5</STRONG><BR><STRONG>2. 5353 mag. 12.5</STRONG><BR><STRONG>3. 5354 mag. 13.0</STRONG><BR><STRONG>4. 5355 mag. 14.0</STRONG><BR><STRONG>5. 5358 mag. 14.6</STRONG><BR> <BR>Using my 10-inch reflector, NGC-5350 is the largest, with 53 and 54 being the two smaller ones. N is to the right on this sketch. <BR> <BR>I am really behind as this sketch was made, May 22nd 1993 at 2:45 AM local time. This group was observed with my 10-inch at 114x from my backyard in Boiling Springs, NC.<BR> <BR>I have wanted to go back and try for all five, but just got caught up in too many other galaxy groups. My favorite objects are interacting galaxies. It's wonderful when you can spend an entire observing session and move your scope less than 1°. <BR> <BR>Every object deserves at least 30 minutes of careful viewing with different eyepieces, magnifications, etc. Without careful attention you can also miss an object that is only 10 arch minutes or less away.<BR> <BR>Add some notes with a sketch and one galaxy group can consume several hours. You look at your watch at 11:00 PM and you look again, and it's 3:00 AM. Total concentration...this is actually the same thing as hypnosis, as time is totally lost.<BR> <BR>Have you ever attempted a mechanical job of great precision? Four or more hours pass without realizing? I am sure that many of you have had this to happen while doing an excel spreadsheet or another computer task. <BR> <BR>I had this very thing to happen yesterday while working on two high end bicycles with a total value exceeding $25,000 dollars. One half turn too much on a spoke on a pair of $3,500 Zipp carbon wheels...a bad thing can happen. Improper bolt tensions can destroy a $5,000 carbon fiber frame...this is the frame only. <BR> <BR>I started at 11:30, then I checked the time...it was 4:30 PM.
