Doug,

We should never say unkind remarks regarding someone else's work. What is refrigerator art? If you are interesting in only pretty pictures just google any NGC that you would like...take your choice of sites.

There are also hundreds of amateurs across the country that have excellent galleries of astro-imaging. We need to be diverse, and learn the art of true amateur astronomy and that is looking at the object through the eyepiece. We should congratulate everyone's successes whatever they may be.

Always be respectful of the individual, and their interest. I am hoping that someone will be able to "image" the "illusive" Virgo diamond. I really like "images" too, as I can compare my "refrigerator art" with a beautiful image. This allows me to see how accurate my "RA" really is.

Rob does some excellent work with his mallincam system....I am impressed. Rob I say good things about your work to many people on this side of the Mississippi and to others throughout the coutry. I would also love to see some of your images from last night.

Doug, have you ever seen and estimated the magnitude of a newly found supernova in a faint external 13th magnitude galaxy? It is so exciting. Have you "visually" observed NGC 604, an H-II region in the outer halo in the magnificent" and beautiful M-33? How about the stellar association in the spiral arm of M-31 known as A78, which also bears the designation NGC 206?

To "visually" see some of these wonderful objects can be very rewarding...please give it a try sometime.

I will never forget the excitement and the pounding of my heart when I first found and observed M81 and M-82 with my first serious telescope...an ES 4-1/4 Eq reflector telescope back in the early 70's. When those two objects came into my FOV ... my heart was racing. I am only sorry that I didn't take a note or perform a "refrigerator art" sketch. It would probably be my most cherished sketch of all.

Have you ever had the thrill of seperating a most difficult binary star system with the components being less than 1 arc second apart?

My e-mail is not intended to anger anyone, but to represent other facets of our wonderful hobby. I have always encourged and promoted opposing view points.

Your thoughts?

Best regards, Roger Ivester
