Thank you so very much for the very kind words and encouragement. The LVAS has a wonderful platform with the "forum" to promote amateur astronomy.<BR>

This month we will have at least another 250 (The Charlotte Amateurs) reading the report. Will anyone participate...don't know? We also have quite a few from a club in Columbia SC wanted to receive our work. I have already received an observing report from an observer living in Columbia South Carolina using a C-14. He has submitted an excellent report that you will not want to miss. I have made numerous observations in the past week of NGC 2403 including sketches and notes. I used both my 4-inch refractor and 10-inch reflector. I think everyone will find this interesting. I have always been fascinated with telescopic comparisons.<BR>

The schedule for our observing report for NGC-2403 will be as following:<BR>
<BR>
1. This week will be information from deep-sky observing references.<BR>
2. The following week will be all observing reports and the forwarding of all images.<BR>
<BR>
Rob has already submitted a very nice image of NGC-2403. Rob would you be so kind as to re-send to me and include all relative information about the "mallincam". Many of the readers may not be familiar with this imaging system. It would be great to have some other additional information regarding the scope, location, conditions and anything else that you would care to write.<BR>

Jim, again I want to thank you for your support and encouragement. We will all be better amateurs and observers for the effort. This is suppose to be both a fun and educational experience. Do as much or as little as you would like. <BR>

After the Virgo cluster will be object NGC-3190 which is a wonderful compact galaxy cluster. With my skies, imaging is my best opportunity to do this so I will attempt NGC2403 and the Virgo Cluster to see if I can come up with something useful. I spent over three hours on these two objects performing at least 5 sketches on the VC to see what happens upon each change of the eyepiece. <BR> <BR>It was just too low in the east at midnight for a "research grade" observation and sketch. <BR> <BR>You will be just as surprised with the results as I was. It is not necessarily good...quite to the contrary. There are a number of factors and I am sure that you can figure most of them them out. <BR> <BR>Hopefully the weather will be as nice tonight and I can stay out longer hopefully observing again at about 3:00 AM. I may go to bed and get up at 2:00 AM and observe till sunrise. <BR> <BR>I do this on occasion to get early morning objects at or near the meridian. Remember you should never observe an object before two hours before or after the objects highest point for optimum results. <BR> <BR>Our report's in the future with all be in a two or three part series. This will allow for shorter e-mails and less time all at once.<BR> <BR><STRONG>Part 1: This will be information from reference book sources, and other.</STRONG><BR><STRONG>Part 2: Observing notes (or stories) and images.
