[LVAS] Ooops, forgot attachment

All,

Funny about Buddy Holly. One of my favorite bands in the early 60's was The Hullaballoos. They used to play a lot of Buddy Holly songs. When I first heard Buddy Holly (long after he was dead), I though he was covering them!

I guess I'm old fashioned in astronomy by being a strict visual observer, with no drives or any electronics except a flashlight and a green laser.

And no, I don't collect slide rules!

Fred

Fred,

Re: Atlas finder rings and washers.

Thanks. I really like this kind of stuff, and they do work really well. Some of the brass ones I made myself in a machine shop. Hey, custom. Ha!

As you already know I am a bit old fashioned. I write all my notes in journals, 3 x 5 notes cards, and do simple pencil sketching. No computer data base.

It is interesting to note that Sue French does the same thing except she has always used the larger 4 x 6 cards. I really wish that I had used the larger cards myself.

Old Fashioned, indeed. I sometimes still use a slide rule, and have a very nice collection. Would you like to see a picture of some of my favorite slide rules? Ha! I am sure not. I am laughing as I write this.

My favorite one is a 6-inch with a leather zip case that clips onto your belt. It would go nicely with a pair of Buddy Holly Glasses, and a very nice pencil pocket protector.

I am probably not going to impress many folks telling them about my love for slide rule's and my very nice collection.

Interesting that I just happened to mention Buddy Holley. This month marks the 51st anniversary of his death in a plane crash. I did not know much about BH, as I was going to start the first grade in 1959. My music began with the Beatles.

Sorry to get off of astronomy.

I am hopeful to get another "later night" observing session for some more work on the February Observer Challenge objects.

Roger

Roger,

Those washers are ingenious!
