Dear LVAS,
Here is my first and last color image of M51 Whirlpool Galaxy. It is a
composite of 15 minutes total exposure with data from two mallincams,
22-inch, and 10-inch dobsonians. The image took me a few hours to process in
Adobe Photoshop and Cyanogen MaxIm DL due to field rotation and high noise.
The mallincam is nearly useless for astrophotography at short exposures, but
I did already know that.

Details:
1485mm focal length; 1.25 arcseconds/pixel
Bayer Mosaic: Mallincam Colour Hyper Plus (56 sec) + 22-inch Webster
Dobsonian
LRGB Data: Mallincam II Pro Dob B/W (2.1 sec) + 10-inch Custom Dobsonian
Luminance: Mallincam II Pro Dob B/W (2.1 sec) + 22-inch Webster Dobsonian
The short-exposure images possible with the Dobsonians and Mallincams are
not comparable to the long-exposure CCD cameras on an equatorial mounts of
course, but I thought it would be nice to share my capture with you anyway.
Thank you.
Martin H.
