[Lvas] Mailman, more info on using the mailing list

Using the mailing list is simple. It's just like your regular email.
When a message is sent by a member to the list at lvas at lvlug.org it gets
distributed to everyone and archived. A simple reply with your email
client software is all that is required to reply to someones post. Your
reply will also be distributed to everyone on the list. This type of
communication tends to foster a sense of community and strongly enhances
communication between members. It will also allow members to request
information from the group as a whole, quickly and efficiently. When
that information is given, via the list, everyone gets the benefit of
seeing it and the archive will retain it for those that join at a later
time. The archive is handy to give as a reference to new members so you
don't have to repeat commonly useful information. If someone posts a
good article about anything, lets say collimation for example, it is
archived and can be referred to later by a URL from the archive. I
can't tell you how many times I've used the archive to dredge up useful
but somewhat older information that someone posted years ago on our
Linux mailing list. The historical archive really saved my bacon a few
times.

I hope the club enjoys it...
